Head of Campus Update – 1 March 2018

The start of a new school year is always exciting for teachers and students as they get to know each other and their new learning environment. This year has been no different. Our students are to be commended for the way they have settled so well into their new class, showing respect towards each other and enthusiasm for learning.
A special welcome to Ms Daniela Newnham whose lovely smile and friendly manner welcomes us each morning from the Junior School office.

Camps are a great way to start the year, especially for our new students. They provide quality time and opportunity to develop and maintain friendships, tackle new challenges, experience real life situations and create lasting memories beyond Junior School. This year the Year 6 students flew to Canberra for the week and Year 5 spent time outdoors in Flinders. Both camps provide very different experiences and opportunities but both help to build social skills and independence within a safe and positive environment. Learning how to surf and mastering the skills of archery are often new experiences and a highlight for most students at Flinders.

Congratulations to our Year 6 student leadership team who have been selected to carry out their chosen role this year with confidence, compassion, reliability and true team spirit. With the support of their specialist teachers and the whole of Junior School, each captain will have many opportunities throughout the year to shine and share their creativity and enthusiasm.
