Sports update

Term 3 so far, has provided plenty of opportunities for Berwick Grammar School students across a variety of year levels and disciplines. Following on from a successful BGS Athletics Carnival we have selected a squad of over 50 students to represent the School at the SIS Athletics Carnival on Tuesday 28 August. These students have been training solidly three mornings per week at St Margaret’s School and should see some great results against the other SIS Schools.

Every Tuesday lunchtime our Badminton Club is seeing great numbers turn out to hone their skills. In addition to the Victorian Schools’ Championship for Badminton in Term 4, we have organised two friendly fixtures for our Year 7 – 10 students to compete against neighbouring school St Francis Xavier College. This gives our badminton players a chance to show their skills in a sport not included in the weekly SIS fixtures. In other sporting news, our Senior Basketball, Junior Touch Rugby, Intermediate Touch Rugby and Intermediate Soccer teams are nearing the end of their SIS seasons. Whilst our Senior Basketball and Intermediate Soccer teams are still in the Pennant race with only 1 loss, the standout performer has been the Intermediate Touch Rugby team, who under the tutelage of Mr Nick Simpson remain undefeated on top of the ladder.
