Victorian Schools Cycling Championship Road Series

Success for St Margaret’s and Berwick Grammar School at the Victorian Schools Cycling Championship Road Series at Casey Fields.

After three rounds of Mountain Biking, the HPV and Cycling Squad’s attention turned to Victorian School’s Road Cycling Championship – East Zone, held at Casey Fields.

SMS/BGS had 26 students competing in the event held in near perfect conditions and came away with 19 medals from the event.

The Senior School had eight students competing with seven of them finishing on the podium in their respective categories! Samantha Horton and Caitlyn Lake raced in the JN15 category and finished 1st and 2nd respectively. In JN17 event, 1st went to Susanna Bates, 2nd Clare McCurdy and in 3rd was Alisa Johnson. In the Junior Racing 17 category, Phoebe Thompson had to battle to finish 2nd in a sprint and Makenzie Betts finished in 5th place. The final event of the day saw Nicole McClary ride strongly to take the win.

Congratulations must go to all the riders on their efforts throughout the day.

SMS/BGS now have 23 riders through to the State Finals, to be held in October.
