JAZZ CABARET NIGHT
The last week of term saw the Music Department put together a wonderful night of Jazz, featuring the Big Band, Vocal Ensemble, Guitar Ensemble, Vocal soloists and the VCE and Year 10 Class Ensembles. Over 120 parents and friends brought along their hamper food, sat back and enjoyed the amazing musical talents of the boys. The night featured the Big Band, whilst providing wonderful backing for the singers, they also presented a number of well-known jazz standards. The main vocalists: Justin Lacomel, Justin Lake, Pavan Mallawarachchi, Connor Boothman and Ned Matin entertained the crowd with hits such as Moondance, Have you met Miss Jones and more. The musicians in the Year 10 and VCE ensembles presented classic jazz hits such as Night and Day, Skylark, and The Girl from Ipanema. The well-known song, The Autumn Leaves, was beautifully performed by the very talented Guitar Ensemble. The Vocal Ensemble showed us what crooning was and then gave us a rousing version of the hit song from The Blues Brothers. Thanks to Mr Mark Mason (Head of Bands) and Mrs Prudence Findlay (Vocal Teacher), Anneliese Muller (Class teacher) for all their hard-work in preparing the boys. Special mention to Jack Murray, Max Terlato and Kash Gaitely for their help on the night and the Friends of Performing Arts for their work with the raffles and selling of drinks. Finally, congratulations to all those who performed on the night!
