New Life Governor Appointed

The School Council is pleased to announce that, by a unanimous vote, it has decided to induct Mrs Fiona Templar as a Life Governor of the School. Under the SMBG Constitution, this is recognition that Council can extend to a person ‘who has rendered outstanding service to the School’.

Since joining the school in 2000, Fiona’s service included significant involvement with the Parents and Friends Association, the Foundation, numerous subcommittees, and, of course, the School Council, where she served as President for eight years.

In that role, she developed a strong and highly effective partnership with our Principal, Dr Annette Rome, and they presided over a transformation that brought our two campuses together as one School and saw record enrolments.

Fiona’s strong leadership and business acumen also played a major role in transforming the School’s financial position and overall value from one of considerable vulnerability to one of genuine strength, enjoying the best financial position in its history.

Most importantly, throughout her presidency, Fiona’s decisions have been guided by the welfare, development, and nurturing of the children entrusted to the School’s care—both those who attend today and those who will follow in future generations. This commitment has been of enormous benefit to those students, their families, and the wider School community.

As a result of Fiona’s efforts, the School is now in an enviable position to plan confidently for future growth, explore new opportunities, and continue providing high-quality educational choices for our rapidly growing community. The Council thanks Fiona for her exemplary service.
