Key Information

Applying

  • 2025 Art and Design Scholarships are available for students entering the School in Years 9, 10 and 11 in 2027.
  • Applications for Art and Design Scholarships close at 4.00 pm on Friday 25 April 2025.
  • Only art and design scholarship applications applied through the school’s scholarship application form will be considered.
  • Only shortlisted candidates will be asked to attend an assessment interview for a Scholarship (please see criteria for minimum requirements).
  • Assessment interviews will be held between 9.00 am and 4.00 pm on Wednesday 21 May 2025 at the Berwick Campus.
  • Art and Design Scholarships consist of 50% remission from annual Tuition Fees.
  • Candidates will be expected to contribute to the SMBG Art and Design program and have a desire to progress with their practice into VCE.

 

Scholarship Criteria and Requirements

  • To be considered ALL candidates must provide (upload) the following information in their application:
    • 2 most recent school reports (upload to Student’s most recent school report (e.g. semester 2)
    • Latest NAPLAN results (upload to Student’s NAPLAN)
    • Candidates’ digital portfolio (upload to Portfolio documents to support scholarship(s) – Single PDF Document which should include up to 5 examples of your work.
      • Works can be from any medium or art form.
      • Candidates’ portfolio work will be assessed based on the originality of their work and their creative expression.
      • Candidates’ digital portfolio should include a statement of up to 500 words outlining their reasons for applying for the Arts and Design Scholarship. This could include reference to particular strengths and interests. digital portfolio should also include could include copies of achievements, certificates and references.
