Head of Campus update – 11 February 2016

What a great start to our 90th year! Happy students settling well into their new classes, organised caring teachers getting to know their new students and lots of relevant learning opportunities planned for all needs and abilities. We’ve commenced the year with 78 young children in the Early Learning Centre and 292 students divided between fifteen Prep-Year 6 classes.

A big thank you to all parents who attended the recent class information sessions. We hope you found the information interesting and relevant to the learning and development of your child/ren. A reminder that Homework Club will run again this year starting on Monday 22 February in the Inquiry Centre (Library) for interested students in Years 4, 5 and 6. Year 3 students are most welcome to attend in Semester two. Homework Club runs from 3.15 pm-4.00 pm each Monday and Wednesday and please remember that all students need to be picked up from the Inquiry Centre.

The Year 5 and 6 girls are having a fabulous time on camp. The Year 6 students are currently exploring many places of interest in our national capital and gaining a better understanding of our political system through a visit to Parliament House and spending time with Jason Wood MP.

The Year 5 girls are also enjoying four fun filled days at Golden Valley Resort in Flinders. Some of the highlights to-date have included learning to surf at Point Leo beach and trying their hand at archery. A big thank you to all teachers who are attending camps and for the ongoing care and support they so willingly gave our girls.

Casey Relay For Life (4 and 5 March) is just around the corner. A huge thank you to all parents and friends who have registered to participate. There have been some problems with the website so if you choose to register by phone please remember that the team is St Margaret’s/Berwick Grammar and the team leader is Carole Reed. Let’s get behind this most worthy cancer fundraiser whilst having fun as a school community.

The popular Morning/Walk/Run commences this year on Wednesday 17 February for Year 3 to 6 and Friday 19 February for everyone in Prep to Year 2. Families and friends are welcome to join in the fun and fitness. It’s a great way to start a day!

Remember all information, reminders and forthcoming events can be found in your child’s weekly class bulletin.
