Head of Campus Update – 16 June 2016

The diversity of our children and families is a strength of our community. As we look to the future and begin building the framework for a new five-year strategic plan a number of forums have, and will be held to garner feedback and suggestions from our school community. It is important that we continue to plan for the future to ensure that teaching and learning remains relevant and engaging. This term, both the morning and evening Parent Forums focusing on the Junior School were well attended and provided our parents with the opportunity to share information and ideas about what is working and what can be improved on. Mrs Reed and I look forward to hosting more of these forums next semester focusing on Year 7 – 12. Please keep a look out for an invitation that will be sent out next term.

I would like to congratulate Alexander Kraan (Year 10) on being selected to take part in the Rotary Exchange program. Alexander will leave Melbourne on the 20 January 2017 and fly to Switzerland on exchange for 1 year. During the exchange, Alexander will be hosted by several families for approximately 3-4 months at a time.  He will attend and experience schooling in Switzerland, participating fully in both the academic and co-curricular programs. Alexander is very excited about immersing himself in the Swiss culture, eating their foods and delicacies and learning to speak their language. A highlight of the exchange for Alexander will be the opportunity to tour around Europe with other exchange students, have a white Christmas and to ski and snowboard on the Swiss Alps. Alexander will return to Melbourne on the 10 of January 2018 to commence Year 11 back at Berwick Grammar School.

Miss Jane Mason, Junior School Coordinator has tendered her resignation from Berwick Grammar School from the end of this term. While a wonderful and exciting opportunity awaits Miss Mason, I would like to thank her for her passion, dedication and leadership over the past eight years. The school wishes Miss Mason all the best for her future endeavours.

I would like to thank you, our school community for your ongoing support of the school and commitment to your son’s education. I wish you all a wonderful mind-year holiday and look forward to your return in Semester 2.
