House Athletics

The 2016 BGS House Athletics Carnival was held on Wednesday 10 August at Casey Fields in Cranbourne. Despite an early weather forecast that had us all on edge, the blue sky and sunshine certainly added to the enjoyment and success of the day.

We saw many talented athletes, personal bests and boys stepping up to fill in for events at short notice in order to earn valuable points for their respective Houses.

Congratulations to the following boys that broke school records:

Luke Bailey, 12yo 800m and 1500m

Matt Merrilees,  13yo Discus and High Jump

Michael Battye,  17yo High Jump

Jacob Crozier,  17yo Triple Jump

Cort Wynen, 18yo Triple Jump

The final results were close with Richards House taking out the win by only 8 points to Battye. Forsyth House may have finished in third place, however, they certainly exuded House Spirit and provided plenty of entertainment.

Congratulations to all participants who will receive points that will contribute to achieving House Colours. A big thank you to our PE staff, Mr Simpson, Mr Bruton and Mr Chittenden for the event organisation, the House Convenors Mr Rodwell, Mr Hibbins and Miss Vrakatselis and to all other staff members who played significant roles in allowing the event to run smoothly.
