Sports Update
Term 1 has seen the boys from Berwick Grammar School begin their seasons in three different SIS weekly sports, begin preparations for the two upcoming swimming carnivals and receive a visit from fantastic sporting role models. The Senior Soccer and Intermediate Cricket teams both performed well in the narrowest of losses in their opening fixtures, whilst the Intermediate Handball team is about to begin their season now that their Year 9 players have returned from their two weeks in the CBD for the City Cite Endeavour.
Each Monday and Wednesday morning at 7.00 am we have had record numbers of BGS students attending our early bird swimming sessions. With the BGS swim carnival only weeks away, and the SIS Swim Carnival to be held early in Term 2, our swimmers are giving themselves the best possible chance of success through their dedication and hard work at these sessions.
The BGS Year 6 cohort were fortunate to receive a visit from four players from the Richmond Football club earlier this term. The players led by Shaun Hampson and Steven Morris discussed a range of issues including the importance of diversity and how to develop resilience. Lessons which are sure to help these students both on and off the sporting field for years to come.
