WW1 Battlefields Tour 2019

With the successful application of the Armistice Grant to build the memorial garden the School has a chance to follow up this bit of local history by visiting the Western Front Battlefields.

This is a call for expressions of interest for those students (SMS and BGS) in Year 9 to 12 in 2019 to visit France and Belgium to explore the history of WW1 and visit the sites that saw Australians in action.

The tour to France and Belgium will take in notable and historical sites which saw Australians in action during WW1, such as Passchendaele, Frommels, The Somme and Ypres plus Normandy visiting the D-Day landing sites of WW2. The tour will also include time in Paris visiting the Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Euro Disney and other sites. There might be the possibility of watching a stage of the 2019 Tour De France as it will be going through this area of France and Belgium at the same time of the visit.

The proposed date of the educational tour will be during the Semester 1 holidays (June 19 to July 2, 2019). Flyers with more of the highlights and details are available.  You can email Greg Ashcroft at ashcroftg@berwickgrammar.vic.edu.au  for a copy or if you have other questions.
