ART AFFICIONADO TOUR

Friday 16 July was not a day for the Year 12 Studio Arts students to stay at home, it was a day to discover and rediscover Melbourne.

The Studio Art class met at the iconic café Pellegrini’s to undertake a 2 hour walking tour through Melbourne’s laneways to visit Melbourne’s best contemporary art galleries and artist-run-initiatives. We were lucky to have a dynamic and inspiring tour guide who spoke about the history and architecture of Melbourne as we toured parts of the city that many of us had never seen or visited. The range or galleries and exhibitions visited was diverse, including  Mailbox Art Space, Melbourne’s smallest galleries, a row of repurposed letterboxes in the foyer of 141-143 Flinders Lane and one that hosts the best view of Melbourne. This was an energising and engaging way to experience how dynamic Melbourne’s art and galleries are and to experience just how marvellous the city of Melbourne can be.
