Why Us?

St Margaret’s Berwick Grammar Junior School is a vibrant, exciting and educationally supportive learning environment.

The children are fuelled by a strong sense of inquiry through their work within the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) and through their own curiosity.

PYP

PYP challenges students to think for themselves and take responsibility for their learning as they explore local and global issues and opportunities in real-life contexts.

Specialist Lessons

Our students access a range of specialist programs which enhance the St Margaret’s curriculum. These include: Music, Choir, learning 2 languages (French and Mandarin), Information Literacy, Art, English as an Additional Language (if needed) as well as Physical Education.

Music and Performing Arts

Our ELC children have access to the facilities of the Junior School, like the library and also have class sessions with specialist teachers for Music and Physical Education.

Learning Support

All children develop differently and at different rates; some need extra assistance (remediation) while others require extension. Depending on the needs of a child, our staff devise tailored learning assistance programs to develop their learning needs.

Wellbeing

Primary pastoral care of each child is provided through the classroom teacher. Each child is placed into a House. The House system is used for school competitions such as House Athletics, Cross Country and Swimming carnival. Our School is an officially accredited partner of the Resilience Project, which helps build positive mental health strategies.

Digital Learning

We are motivated by the desire to transform education to better suit the needs of our students as citizens of new and emerging digitally connected societies.

Outdoor Education

Outdoor, environmental learning is a critical part of each child’s experience. Children attend camps from Year 3 onwards, which are designed to: enrich their friendships; build their confidence; further foster a sense of community; develop independence and help the children view challenge as a means of growth.

Activities and Clubs

Children can be part of a range of stimulating clubs outside of the classroom including Chess Club, Bricks for Kids, Writers Club and Robotics. Students in Years 4-6 can complete their homework at school at Homework Club.

Before and Aftercare

With our Before and Aftercare facilities your child can be supervised and cared for between 7.00 – 8.00am and 3.00- 6.00pm every day during term time.
